HHFI, based in Nairobi, Kenya, is dedicated to combating food and nutrition insecurity and poverty through the practice and teaching of urban agriculture.
Urban agriculture, coupled with local food systems and short supply chains, is an effective countermeasure to food insecurity in cities. HHFI works with households and community groups to increase the supply of locally sourced, organic, nutritious food.
HHFI empowers target group members by demonstrating and teaching agricultural techniques appropriate for small-space gardening, providing farm material inputs, teaching farm management and business skills and advocating for stronger, healthier and safer communities.​
